Pit Bulls
Pit Bull Background Check :)
When it comes to Pit Bulls there are two types of people; one, who are in love with the dogs and couldn’t stop saying good things about them, and the other, the fearful people who dislike these dogs. Whichever way you think about these animals, before you make up your mind please read this article, or research the breed for oneself.
There is one clarification I would like to make, there is a breed called American Pit Bull Terrier, but the kennel club is unsure about the reality of the breed, hence people refer to bull like dogs (dogo Argentino, American and English Staffordshire terrier, Bull terrier, American bulldog, Cane Corso, Boxer, or etc.) as Pit Bulls. Since most shelters lack the clear bred dogs, I will continue to refer to them as Pit Bulls.
American Pit Bull terriers were originally bred and used for bull baiting in England, and came to the Americas by the colonist settlers. In the late 1800s they were used as nanny dogs, watching the children while their owners were out on the farm or doing chores around the house.
As the more people realized that their strength can be used for less humane activities, people began breeding Pit Bulls for bull or dog fights. And as this selective breeding, over the generations of dogs, people removed some of their good characteristics, however the breed has remained being one of the most children and family friendly breeds in America.
These dogs have a lot of energy, and due to the selective breeding mentioned above, the dogs became really strong over time. They are known to be really playful and energetic, sometimes they would forget about their size or strength. Like all other dogs, Pit Bulls need a leader, someone they can trust and look up to, they are also in need of a lot of exercise, but chilling on the couch is their second favorite way to spend their time.
Pit Bulls in a good relationship with their owner, will protect their family no matter what. In conclusion they are very loyal and friendly animals, who love their families, but have a lot of energy to play and run around. Other than some skin problems, they are pretty healthy dogs.
